In CHUBBY BOUNTY HUNTER 016, I get to enjoy an endangered species: the traditional Jewish deli. A Toronto fixture since the 1970s, Yitz’s hearkens back to another era of the city’s multicultural heart. For this encounter, I destroy a fatty roast beef sandwich with tractor fries and gravy and a cherry soda. The sandwich is piled high with scrumptious leaves of beef and a slather of mustard and mayo. The fries are vintage, handcut memories of my childhood and the gravy has a tang that cuts through it all. Paired with the Jewish deli sandwich mate, cherry soda, I’m made happily kosher all around.
